For quickly assessing features:  When you enter the game, clicking on the triangle on the top left will give you a lot of resources to just click through and check everything out. See what happens when you unlock automations and switch over to other items to build :)

I'd suggest seeing what happens when you sell 10 items, 25 items and 50 items (there is no tracker of how many you've sold by design, it gets incremented invisible to the player for the element of surprise).
